CATL to deploy first large-scale sodium-ion energy storage project in Central and Eastern Europe

CATL has signed a 2 GWh agreement with Solarpro, a leading renewable energy company in Central and Eastern Europe, to deploy its Tener Sodium energy storage system. The two companies plan to jointly develop the first large-scale sodium-ion battery energy storage project in the region later this year. The project will use CATL’s Tener Sodium energy storage system, which offers a cycle life of up to 15,000 cycles and is designed to operate reliably for 25 to 30 years. The system also delivers strong low-temperature performance, retaining 92% of its capacity at -20°C, making it well suited to the harsh winter conditions in Eastern European countries such as Lithuania, where temperatures can fall to -15°C to -20°C. CATL and Solarpro have maintained a long-term strategic partnership since their first collaboration in 2024, when they deployed a 150 MWh EnerC+ liquid-cooled battery energy storage system in Bulgaria. In May this year, the companies connected a 602 MWh Tener lithium battery energy storage system to Bulgaria’s power grid, increasing the country’s total energy storage capacity by approximately 10%.

Moonshot AI reportedly plans final pre-IPO round at $50 billion valuation

Moonshot AI, the developer of the Kimi chatbot, reportedly plans to begin talks in August for a final pre-IPO funding round targeting a pre-money valuation of up to $50 billion. The company could pursue a Hong Kong listing within six months. The round would follow current financing expected to value Moonshot at about $31.5 billion before new capital. The company has also sent an IPO proposal to investors and is preparing to remove its overseas red-chip structure. Moonshot’s annual recurring revenue reached $300 million in June, up from $100 million in March. The company released Kimi K3 on July 17 and paused paid subscriptions for new consumer users two days later after demand exceeded available capacity. Tencent reportedly in talks to acquire mobile game studio SuperPlay in deal worth up to $1.5 billion

According to Israeli financial outlet Calcalist, Playtika is in talks with Tencent over a potential sale of its mobile game studio SuperPlay, with the deal reportedly valued between $1 billion and $1.5 billion. Playtika acquired SuperPlay in 2024 for $690 million in cash, along with an earn-out agreement worth up to $1.25 billion tied to the studio’s financial performance between 2025 and 2027. Under the agreement, Playtika reassesses SuperPlay’s performance—primarily its revenue growth—at the end of each year and adjusts the additional consideration payable to the founders accordingly. As SuperPlay has continued to outperform expectations, Playtika’s contingent payment obligations have also increased. One of SuperPlay’s biggest growth drivers is Disney Solitaire, a Disney-licensed mobile card game that industry estimates generates around $300 million in annual revenue.
