The forecaster said that, under the influence of an active southwesterly airstream, heavy showers and squally thunderstorms were initially expected to persist over the vicinity of the Pearl River Delta on Monday. Classes at afternoon schools would proceed as usual, the bureau said. The rainy weather comes in the wake of Typhoon Noul, which triggered a No 9 signal for six hours on Sunday morning.
