The Chinese leader is due in Washington for another summit. © Reuters WASHINGTON/NEW YORK — Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump are set for their second summit of the year, as tensions over tariffs, rare earth materials, artificial intelligence and other issues test a trade truce due to expire in November. After Trump traveled to Beijing in May, the venue this time is Washington. The White House will be putting on a show of welcoming the Chinese leader, including a state dinner. Yet expectations for tangible results are modest, after their earlier meeting produced what many experts saw as symbolism over substance.
