US tech publication The Verge reported that an agency official had confirmed on Wednesday that the restrictions applied to smart vacuums. The FCC did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment on Thursday, outside work hours, regarding the scope of its ban. The policy strikes directly at Chinese manufacturers, which dominate the global home automation sector.
