Samsung Electronics’ Mobile eXperience division is reportedly considering Chinese-made DRAM for low- and mid-range smartphones sold in China, including Galaxy A models, according to a South Korean media report cited by IT Home. The move would allow Samsung to use lower-cost Chinese LPDDR5X memory as rising component prices put pressure on smartphone margins. The report said Samsung is considering the move partly to reduce production costs and improve its position in China, where its smartphone market share has fallen to 0.6%. It did not specify which Chinese memory suppliers Samsung may work with or whether procurement decisions have been finalized.
